Ideas for a wedding proposal.

If you've ever thought about proposing to your future wife I'm sure you thought about the best possible way to do it. In fact I'm sure your interested in finding out new and exciting ways to shock her if your reading this site. I'm a pilot so I'd like to do something with a flying machine (Airplane, helicopter, balloon, spaceship etc...) or at least something with an aerial view. Please post your proposal stories here or your thoughts on a good proposal story.

My Current ideas:

1. On top of the Rockefeller Center in NYC. We had an incredible time there and weren't expecting to have so much fun. We took a photo of us kissing and talked about that photo for months afterward. I think another photo of better quality will last a lifetime. I of course plan to try and get it on video. I want to be able to see it 20 years from now.

2. Have a limo pick her up. The driver would give her a new dress and tell her to get ready. She would be caught up in the surprise. The driver would drive her around for 30 mins or so and finally meet me at the perfect location to make my move! I haven't thought of where that location would be yet. I saw this on a TV show but it wasn't a proposal it was an anniversary.

3. Make an aerial banner for a banner towing airplane and go to dinner on the beach while the plane flew by.

4. Fly her to one of the Island of the Bahamas for a romantic weekend and propose on the beach. I did this one already and it didn't work so well so as romantic as it might be I'm not too sold on this idea.

What do you think? Do you have any over the top ideas? I'd like to hear them.

Here's my idea:

Here is something unique and something that I might be able to help you with. Well first of all, I am an artist and my idea deals with maybe creating a painting or even a drawing for your girlfriend. What I have in mind is that I would draw you on one knee, proposing to her. So I would draw both of you ahead of time and then we would arrange a location where we could meet, where you would like to propose to her, and I will be there as if I am drawing a scenery. And then you tell her that you two should go see what Im doing and BAM, she sees you proposing to her. Okay thats my idea... im also willing to actually draw/paint the background of where we are so that you two can keep the painting as a memory of where it was.

I wouldnt charge much either... maybe if i get an invite to the wedding, that would cover most of it

My name is Danny Paul and my email is Emmitt8422@aol.com.

hmm well man as a girl illl be honest with you none of those ideas really made me excited the painting one was kinda cool but i dono not personal enough i dont think.

i dont like to just leave a bad comment so how bout an idea....

beat her home from work one evening and have prepared and leave out for her a trail from the door to the bedroom or outside or dinning room or a room u choose. the trail is made up of little cut out love hearts, on each heart you have written something about her that you love, a memory of you together or something else significant about your relationship. (where u meet, what she was wearing etc) have these notes all the way to the room you pick ( you might want to have a big obvious note explaining for her to read all the little hearts) all these heart eventually will lead to the room where you have set up either a beautiful dinner or a candle lit bedroom. you stand in the room at the end of the trail with a big heart saying sumthing like "for all these reasons i love you. for all these reasons i want to share happiness and life with you." then once she has read this, you then get on one knee present the ring and ask her. if you do lots of candles and heaps of hearts and maybe even "your song" plaing int he background i garentee she will love it. because its personal and its something you will have to go to effort to do, actually think about and prepare. its the effort and attn to details that really complete it!

good luck!

I proposed to my fiance about a year and a half ago and we're getting married in less than two months. The only possible way to make this a surprise is to not do anything outside of the realm of what you do naturally. If there's anything extravagant happening, and there's no special occasion, and you've been dating a while, she'll probably figure it out. Trust me, once she sees the ring, she'll have all the excitement she needs. I proposed to my girlfriend in Chicago. I blindfolded her (which was something I had done before, because I like to surprise her a lot) and drove her into the city. A popular spot in Chicago if you haven't been there is Millenium Park, well I hate Millenium Park so I went to the park BEHIND Millenium Park. There were quite literally zero people there. Just rows or benches, us and the skyline. I carefully walked her down to a bench that had a crystal clear perfect view of the skyline of Chicago. She was blindfolded the whole time, so she had no idea where we were. I carefully got down on my knee, and told to take the blindfold off and when she opened her eyes, the ring and me were the only thing she saw. She was so excited that she lost her breath and actually started punching me. It was an amazing night. It is now our spot and we go there frequently just to hang out and relax. I like your website idea, but be careful. The world is a small place and word travels. Good luck and ultimately you'll know exactly what to do. I had the ring for three weeks, with no clear cut day in my mind. One day I woke up, realized I was ready, and decided all the day. It's more exciting that way cause it's a rush for both of you. Sorry this is so long. Have fun

Uhm...not really a suggestion just a warning..I was looking at proposals on youtube and this link was posted as a comment. Now youtube is a large place so searching and asking for the link to be removed would be impossible...if you two don't use youtube, well your safe, if she does...well you get the point. Here’s the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INxdozxB5iE posted by danpooler

Dan,
I like the ideas so far. Just wanted to let you know that the right side where you have questions and "vote", is coming up as "cannot process request." Just an FYI. I am so excited about you and Laura and the engagement!!

I am a woman and this actually happened to me.
I had prayed to God , " please send me the man you want for me."
I never in my life seen the ocean, received flowers or even been propose too. I wanted something different from anyone else.So as I am praying for a husband, my husband was praying for a wife, just someone he could love and she love him. That night we both at the alter, both praying and we never knew each other before that night. A miracle happen, a prayer answered. My husband went back to his seat, then I was walking back to my seat and he said he felt a burning sensation in his heart. That is your wife! He said it was clear as day. That night he ask me for my number.
The next day he came over and to my surprise he pick me flowers. We went out on a date to church and gave G-d glory.
The next day he came over and said, I have this desire to take you to see the ocean. Now remember I never seen the ocean and this was the second sign from God I ask for. (Just for my comfort to know this man would be from G-d.)
Well, I seen the ocean. He drove me 13 hours to see this beautiful ocean.
The third sign I asked God came true.
He comes up to me and He sits beside me with his arm around me, looking into my eyes , holding my hands in his and he says. I have never been through this. I feel the Lord leading me in everything I have done. He said., I have always bought flowers, never picked them. I don't like the ocean but I had to take you to see the beauty the waters and now I am asking you , Please, will you become one with me?
That question he asked ,I knew it was from God because I did not want a man to say will you marry me.
I wanted something different and different I received.
We married within our two weeks of dating and been married 17 years , working on 18 and everyday our love grows stronger.
To me this is a miracle, and a blessing.
He calls me his Gift from G-d . His beloved
I call him LOVE.
He truly is a prayer answered
